With a heavy heart I decided it was time to retire my good ole Silhouette Portrait as it kept on letting me down by not "speaking" to my Mac and the workarounds were getting really tiresome. I had been watching the Scan N Cut with interest for a long time and when a great offer came up on Create and Craft a couple of weeks ago for the CM300, it was too good a deal to pass up. Fast forward two weeks - I have a brand spanking new toy to play with - yay! - and it's so much fun!!! I mastered the simple cutting projects 20 mins after opening the box and have been slowly making my way through converting my old DFX files of homemade designs, through the Brother Canvas software. These are all loaded onto a USB which sits plugged in to my Scan N Cut by my crafting desk. I think I'll always use Adobe Illustrator for drawing my designs as it's the tool I'm most comfortable with - it's so easy to convert SVG files with the Canvas software - I just find it more user friendly than the Silhouette software. Mind you, I was too much of a stinge to buy the Designers Edition software upgrade so that might not have helped much. Anyhoo, this week I've been having a nosey round looking for free files to cut out and spotted these two SVG's from Miss Kate Cuttables which were on sale for 35 cents each and couldn't resist them for making a couple of Easter cards for my mum and sister. The bunny card was really easy but the Hoppy Easter easel card was defo a bit more challenging as I had to work out which bits were cut from the same colour cardstock and where to position the cardstock on the cutting mat. So, it was a baptism of fire but I'm really happy with the finished project. I hope you like them too!
I've been playing about recently with stamps, spending a bit of time exploring different ways of colouring them and different papers that take watercolour well, so there's been a lot of creativity going on, but nothing much worth taking pics of to share here. The latest project I'm going to show you all is this bit of home decor. It's a concertina box card and folds flat so could easily be sent just like a card through the post but also has lots of dimension. I've used a stamp from DoCrafts Santoro Willow range called Souvenir D'Hiver and used some DoCrafts water-colour felt pens to colour the image - scribbling the ink onto an acrylic block, adding a spot of water to the ink and applying with a small brush. I love this technique because I find the inks are really transparent and the colours are bright and lively. There are three layers to this project. The base has an embossed texture which I've coloured with Gelatos and some mica powder. I also die cut some branches and leaves which combined with the colours in the background have set a kind of autumnal feel for the project. You could make this work for any season though depending on the colours you choose. The next two layers are elements/images adhered to acetate which give depth and keep the whole thing sturdy. The papers I used for the front of the frame are also from the DoCrafts Santoro Willow 12x12 paper range which also has images you can colour in yourself so the range is very versatile. I hope you like the finished project.

Hi again crafters! Here's a quick look at some seasonal makes from my latest kit of papercrafting goodies by DoCrafts. These were on show at my most recent product demo at The Range Dundee. I'd like to thank all who came along to this - it was a really busy day, and I hope you're now all beavering away at that christmas card making... So let's see what was made with these goodies...

First off - I made these little cuties with the gift that came with the September issue of DoCrafts Creativity Mag which consisted of patterned card blanks and small sheets of decoupage toppers. A really quick way of making a few cards to get you in the mood for a full on festive frenzy. I added a few basic die cut shapes to mat the toppers, a bit of inking and some ribbon and twine.
And here's a home decor idea. I cut the Xcut reindeer die twice on two pieces of trimmed down white A4 cardstock (as previously used on the Peace card). I then adhered some pale blue vellum to the inside of the cardstock then glued both the A4 pieces together to make the frame of the lamp. I made a shallow box to insert in the base to hold either a couple of battery operated tealights or, my fave which is a set of tiny battery powered led fairy lights. Looks gorgeous on a dark winter's night all twinkly and sparkletastic! You could probably embellish it with some blingy gems or glitter borders but I like mine plain. I also wondered how some multi coloured LEDs would look in a lantern cut from black cardstock.... amazing probably!

You could bling me up!

If it's an intricate detailed die you're after, what about this one? I made this easy easel card with this Xcut die set (5 pieces in total). These cards have the wow factor without too much fiddling about and again, another CAS card that doesn't take too long to put together.

What about trying different colours of cardstock for the different parts of the card?

While I was making this card I was trying to think if it could be used in a different context and I got the idea of turning it in to a Halloween card. All it needs is a strategically placed spooky lil' ghosty to cover up the Christmas tree by the door and job done!

Isn't it effective!!! As I was cutting out ghosts I thought about making some cute little bunting to go with the Halloween theme....

Especially a crafty bargain!!!! I'd been in Hobbycraft with my daughter – she's currently underway with a Copic pen collection and was buying a new addition with some pocket-money and I came across some bargain boxes of scrapbooking goodies. Hurrah! Well, obviously I couldn't pass them by... I had a good rootle through while waiting for DD to pick a pen and found some goodies that had been marked down considerably – yay! – a proper bargain. Have a look at what I picked up...

...There's a bit of Project Life, Pink Paislee, Cosmo Cricket, Pebbles and Crate Paper, die cut chipboard, paper and acetate embellishments, stamps, stickers, journalling cards, wow what a haul and all for under £20. Normally, I don't spend a lot on crafting supplies - I know, hard to believe but spending on new stuff makes me feel guilty about the old stuff that sits there gathering dust (let's not dwell on that though!) but, once in a while I like to have a splurge and it would have been wrong to let these babies go unloved when they could be home with me, no? Haha!!! I started with the Crate Paper Little You 6x6 paper Pad and embellishments – here's a look at some cards I made...
I love the pastel colours of this pad and the patterns are a great size for card-making - not too intrusive. Anyhoo, I hope you like them.
Get bargain hunting and pop by soon
Well, good morning to you! I hope you're having better weather wherever you are - I'm more than fed up with being rained on every time I go outside - this must be our annual monsoon season come early this year. It usually waits until the kids break up for their summer holidays, so we're a few weeks ahead of that and hopefully that should mean we get our soaking out of the way and will return to beautiful sunshine as soon as possible. Not to worry, rain in summertime means time for guilt free crafting and I had lots of ladies attend my most recent demo because that's the thing to do of a wet Saturday afternoon. So here's some samples I made using the box of products from the previous post...

This is actually one of my favourites for it's sheer simplicity. The glasses and lemons are cut from an Xcut mini die. They have had the cut away inner part coloured in with Artiste watercolour pens which I gave a coating of Anita's 3d Clear Gloss. I used the gloss to make some droplets too. The sentiment has been stamped with alphas from the DoCrafts Wedding range and the pinata paper is just some yellow paper chopped into with scissors - a technique I love doing!

Next up – a few samples of cards using the brand new Metallics range. Here I used the Metallic Elements Capsule A4 Ultimate Paper Pack. As always, this pack is rammed full of papers, vellums, alphabet stickers and die cut elements. The vellum is gorgeous and so unusual - it's quite heavy/thick for a vellum and looks fab when run through an embossing folder like this one here which has been through an Xcut Dogtooth embossing folder. That foiling really catches the light and brings lots of texture to make the most of your backgrounds - I love it!

These papers are really striking with lots of high contrast shine, especially when used alongside some mirri board. The ones with a white background can be coloured up too - they are lovely and smooth and take an ink pad nicely. I tried a gold ink pad which had a subtle effect knocking the contrast back a bit. You could try any colour - I'm not done experimenting yet...

Gorjuss is off on her hols here and is enjoying wearing here pretty sailor bathing suit. There's a lot more detail on this stamp but as she's in an aperture and stamped on the inside of the card, it's cut that lovely detail off. She is actually sitting on a rock with her feet in a little pool of water and has little fishies swimming round her tootsies!. This is the only sample I had time to make as we got our kits only a week ahead of our demos and I really didn't have a lot of time to experiment. I'm sure I'll revisit her though - she too cute not to!

Here's Gorjuss floating Up and Away combined with a vellum foil background from the Metallics pack. She's adorable!

As you can see, I've not had an awful lot of time to prep my samples but sometimes a bit of pressure brings out the creativity in us. Contained in the box is new Gorjuss stamps, Gorjuss washii tape, three new Xcut dies - one a set of numbers, some Anita's decoupage and an Ultimate A4 Paper pack - this time the theme is Metallics. This is how those products look when they come in - all shiny and new, ready to inspire card making, scrapbooking, any creative way that appeals basically. Stay tuned for product samples to follow...
This week I've been trying out folded cards which I'll be blogging about shortly - they are something I'm not particularly familiar with but I like to have a wee challenge from time to time ... Today I'm dedicating my Sunday post to cards made with Santoro's Gorjuss range from DoCrafts. I know she's not everyone's "cup of tea" – some people feel she's a bit dark/gothic looking but she doesn't have to be, especially when you can stamp her and colour her up any way you like. Why not give her pink hair and bright clothes (Ooooh, I want to try this now I've mentioned it!!!!)?
So lets have a look at these cards...

#notgothic! This card looks like there is a lot of work in it but to be honest, the most time consuming aspect of it is the decoupaged focal point. There's quite a few sheets of this kind of stuff in the A4 Ultimate paper pack but if you like your cards quick and simple then there's this selfie card...

Pretty straight forward - most time being spent on colouring up the stamped image on the photo frame.

Here she is in less gothic colours:-

The marble effect background has been hand painted and I've used an embossing folder to add a bit of texture to a piece of vellum from the Gorjuss 6x6 paper pack.

This pop up card was the first one I'd ever made and yep, it took quite a while to do but the finished result has the wow factor don't you think?

So, if you have come across my little blog before and seen a few of these makes in the past, apologies if you're disappointed to see them again but I wanted a post where all my Gorjuss makes could all come together. My next DoCrafts demonstration is on May 27th at The Range, Dundee - where I'll be making cards and projects with new DoCrafts products - one of which is a new version of Gorjuss. This time she's all ready for summer which means a brighter, less gothic palette and also the new stamps mean again you can colour her any way you like...

Stay tuned for all that soon!

Happy crafting everyone,

I wanted to try a more muted version of my usual style but still have everything going on with embellishments and texture. This was quite a difficult one for me as I had to reign myself in a bit, resulting in the LO kind of lying about on the craft table whilst I tried to feel where I was going with it. I used pale acrylics in the background and spritzed with a gold/black Artiste Spritz Ink by DoCrafts. I cut a panel of square windows on my Silhouette and backfilled some of the spaces with papers and vellums from the DoCrafts Geometric Mocha range. I glittered the "Lovely" wooden sentiment and gave it a thick layer of Anita's 3D Clear Gloss Finish to seal the glitter. I've stamped and heat embossed some Geometric stamps with copper embossing powder then raised these elements with foam pads for a bit of dimension. There's a bit of stamping in corners and finally a sprinkle of pewter coloured sequins to catch the eye. I'm pleased with the finished page although it did take a bit longer for me to complete than anticipated. Oh and BTW - copper embossing powder is My Favourite Thing at the moment!
Thanks for popping by! Here are some cards I've made with my home-made embellishment clusters. I really love doing this and find it seems to cut down on time I spend faffing about with my cards. It's great because the focal point is already made and usually with a sentiment built in too. All I need to do is pick a size and some background papers and I'm off. So, without further ado, here's some I made earlier...

Truthfully, the only extras that weren't kicking about the leftover stash I used here were some extra bits of graph paper I designed (so simple!) and printed out, and two separate tiny bits of stamping. They were really quick to put together.

Now, these are really bright and colourful, cheerful cards and possibly not to everyone's taste. My choice to go with this colourway was because I had a really old kit gathering dust on the shelves of Crafty Mission Control and it was easier to start this project with patterns and colours that I knew would work together, just as a starting point as I'd never tried this out before. I love the results and have moved on to a more freestyle approach with all sorts of leftovers - but that's for another post! One tip I will mention tho is - when die cutting for specific projects, use up your smaller scraps by die cutting out lots of smaller shapes in various sizes and designs. Store them in clear bags or mini clear boxes/tubs. You'll be surprised how quickly you accumulate these pieces and they are handy and ready to roll next time you want to make some clusters. Stay tuned for another post this week. I'm making a couple of Gorjuss cards...

Have a lovely weekend all,

Love,

In-between doing my demos for DoCrafts, I like to spend my crafty time trying out new techniques and generally having a crafty potter around my stash, and recently it occurred to me that my clustering skills were definitely lacking. Not being one to let that go, I decided I should maybe try and master this. It's something I've admired amongst my crafty colleagues work for a long time and I've often wondered what kind of witchcraft they use when putting these beautiful eye-catching elements together and thankfully when grilled about how it all happens, they were really helpful and forthcoming with lots of tips. Naturally, everyone does it differently and has various ways of putting these together but the best tip I picked up was a visual one from a Youtube video - I am a visual learner after all. I watched lots of vids and what I got from that was that a lot of paper shuffling goes on and the ones I like look a bit well, messy! So taking the bull by the horns I started easy with an old kit from years ago that I still had tons of (do these kits ever end?). I felt it would make life simpler as all the elements are designed to compliment and coordinate with each other. I really had fun doing this and it all just seemed to click once I stopped overanalysing everything. I did print off a few extra bits and pieces to help out - a couple of graph paper backgrounds and I also did a bit of diecutting so I could use different shapes of patterned papers too. Here are some of my results...
All of the above are cards made with some of the new Xcut dies. I'll not deny, they are very intricate but if you use my tip from my previous post, you'll be cutting them out completely hassle free - even more so if you remember to give them a wipe over first with a tumble drier sheet, that way all the waste just falls out with a few taps!

Next up are 3 cards from the Paws For Thought range. These are cute beyond belief and really appeal to me because they are so colourful. They're a great start for a newbie crafter as they can be made quickly and without too much embellishing. However, if you should so wish to go completely over the top and go all out kitsch (who, me? - never!!!!) you can really go for it as you can see in the pop up box card below!

These two cards are BIG 8x8s - a size I don't normally indulge in but big cards do give you a bit more scope for embellishing. This colours in this pack are very muted so I added some pale pink and blue to the Best Wishes card to liven things up a bit.

I've been busy beavering away, making samples for my next demo which involved using some really intricate dies. To tell the truth, my die cutting machine was really struggling and although it did eventually manage to cut them it was only after lots of rotating of the die and positioning on different parts of the base plate. The whole process was beginning to be a real chore. That was until I tried this amazingly simple tip. Now, I can't take credit for this because it was actually shared by a demonstrating colleague, Lyn Marlow, who made the suggestion in the first place but it does work a treat and means that tricky ornate dies will cut a whole lot easier with only one or two passes. So drum roll please....
Ok, the secret weapon I have been using is – poly pockets or punch pockets as some call them! Wow! Yep, that's it! Simply, place your die and card stock inside the poly pocket (I always tape intricate dies down on to the card stock to prevent them from sliding about), sandwich between your cutting plates and roll that baby through your machine. You can check without taking the die and card stock out of the pocket whether one pass through has done the job – I have needed two passes at the most! If you don't have poly pockets in your home somewhere, Lyn suggested using freezer bags in the same way. I'm sticking with the poly pockets though as I have tons of those - the kids are always using them to display pieces of school work etc but they are so cheap anyway - you can buy 100 for a couple of quid and you will get multiple uses from each one. Don't think that because they look all cut up they won't work as they do!

I have taken the die cut out of the bag to show it's all done but if you give the whole thing a shake while still in the bag you'll find most of the bits fall out of the die and into the bag which is great for keeping things clean and tidy and is a bonus of using this method. Boom! Double whammy!!! Lol!

If environmental issues with these are on your conscience, which obviously they should be, dispose of thoughtfully and in an environmentally friendly manner. I'm lucky to have various different recycling methods that we adhere to when it comes to refuse collection and my used plastics all go in a separate crate for collection by our local council who take it away for recycling. Please use them responsibly is all!
So there's your top crafty tip for a Sunday morning. Enjoy!!!!
Stay tuned for cards using the latest products from DoCrafts and the results of those die cuts...
Thanks for popping by!!!!
One of the products I was using was a lovely floral panel die, ideal for using as a background on an A6 card. Firstly, I used the diecut piece as a straight forward back ground panel over an inked and blended background panel, then I thought I would try using the diecut piece as a stencil to ink through which was really effective.

These cards us the Xcut Cut and Emboss Window folder. As with the other Cut and Emboss folders, this combines diecut elements into your embossing which is a great idea. This one is a window this time. The first card I inked and heat embossed a sentiment which is revealed when the window is opened up. I also made another which I thought would look cute to have the Gorjusss Girl on the inside looking out of the window.

Welcome back to paperymash! Today I'm going to show you these cute paper houses - there are two different ways to achieve these 93 if you're anything like me!); one is a decoupage method, the other is from a die set, both by DoCrafts. Or, you can mix them up and do a hybrid and use everything!!!
Here's the two different sets...

The pack is a straightforward decoupage kit which includes two templates that make up the actual house and an inner box which the house sits over/on top of. This means it's ideal for filling with goodies or a battery operated candle.
This one is decorated to look like a pretty Parisienne patisserie

So cute!

The next one I wanted to freestyle a bit so I used the die set to make a house that I could pop a battery candle in. I made curtains for the windows and "glazed" the windows with vellum to cast a soft glow while lit up. I'd love to do a row of these all different heights and coloured windows, decorated with spooky stuff for Halloween. These would make great christmas decorations too!!!
If 3d houses aren't your thing you could always convert your houses into cards instead. The paper kit would definitely make quite a few of these as there is an extra sheet of windows for this very purpose. Worth a mention too is the pack contains some patterned papers which would make a great background for the cards although I would stick them on to card stock before using the template or die cutting the actual house shape base - you want your houses to be sturdy after all!!
Here's another scrapbook page which was spontaneously put together this week. I came across this photo while I was looking for some other family pics - I'll never find them at this rate!! It's really nice to come across daft pics from the past - sometimes you forget about the person you were before family comes along. This was a bit of a revelation as I'm wearing quite a short skirt - it was definitely summer and I think I was getting ready to go to work... Anyhoo, it was the colours in the photo that made me go with the papers and cardstock I used (yes, my bedroom was painted bright sunny yellow!). A bit of a change for me as I tend to start neutral and build from there. I've actually used some bits and pieces that are ancient too - see the two tiny tags by the cluster - they're probably about 11 years old now. The reason I remember this was they came from a kit that was one of my very first crafting splurges, a K & Co embellishment kit bought from QVC when I was first starting out. Thank goodness I still hoard stash!!!!
A scrapbook page!!!!Hello! Are you all having a crafty weekend? I thought I'd kick of the first post of 2017 with a scrapbook page! I found a cute photo of Millie when she was about 2 and a half, it wasn't a great photo composition wise so I had to do a bit of cropping, result being I was left with quite a small pic. That's ok tho as I thought I could do the layout as an 8x8 instead of having her lost on a 12x12 page. At first I was sure I was going to do a minimalist design but that didn't happen!!!! Whoops! So as usual, this one kind of developed as I went along. I had a few stop start moments with it - I cut a title for it with my Silhouette but, as I'd not used it in months, the software needed updating and the machine really started playing up. About an hour later I eventually got it to cut the title and guess what? I didn't even like it on the layout!!! So it was back to the drawing board for the title. I think what happened was it just kind of overwhelmed the layout - I was forgetting it was just an 8x8. I decided to go with a die cut title instead - "millie doll" which was die cut with some xcut mini alpha dies which worked great and left room for a bit of journaling too. Yay!
Here are two decorations I made for hanging up at Christmas...
I used a chipboard blank taken from a DoCrafts Basics chipboard mini album. This little kit contains 6 blank chipboard pages with two binder rings. I felt I could spare a couple of these pages as I tend to just use two at a time for the front and back covers while filling the inside up with other random bits and pieces like card and acetate using one of the chipboards as a template.

The Santa Stop Here! plaque was first painted with gesso then once dry I gave it a coat of pale blue acrylic. The edges were sponged with white to give an icy, snowy feel and then I painted the whole lot with iridescent glitter glue. This is so pretty when it dries - all lovely and shimmery! The letters are die cut from red glitter card stock using Xcut Wedding Alphas. The stars are also die cut - I used an Xcut mini die set for this - it has a selection of stars in different shapes and sizes. The red pudding and present embellishments are from the little set of felt die cuts I keep mentioning.... This is what you're looking for here :-

These have been a great addition to my Christmas supplies and have come in so handy - if you can still find them I would highly recommend them. They actually come in two sizes - these are the mini ones which are maybe about an inch square in size, but there is a larger size available too. I find these a great size for cards tho! Lastly, to finish off, I die cut three Christmas stockings, backed them with matching red glitter card stock, cut round them and attached them to the back of the plaque with baker's twine.

Next up is a more traditional style decoration. So, using the same technique as the blue plaque, this time I chose a traditional Christmassy colour scheme, sponging the edges in gold acrylic. I diecut a wreath for the focal point decorating with lots of diecuts cut from plain dark green, white and silver mirri cardtock. I finished off with a big bow from scraps of ribbon I save up from Christmas presents down the years (they come in so handy for these projects). This piece is printed with cute little leaping reindeer which tie in with the die cut reindeer decorating the plaque. Lastly, I attached three tiny bells on some twine and stuck them to the back of the chipboard - who doesn't love the tiny tinkle of little bells at christmas?
I hope you enjoy creating Christmas too and that my little blog inspires you to try something featured here...
Have a creative crafty day!
See you back here soon,
For anyone who stops by my blog from time to time, you may have noticed I'm a sucker for a hand made one off mini scrapbook and I love to use my fave cards in these random styled books - I've even used pretty wrapping paper in them. I always save the girls letters to Santa and put them in one of the pockets and I just find it a great way to save christmas memories. So let's have a look at one I prepared to use in my demo which I have saved to use as this year's album...

I made the covers for the book with some corrugated card from an old box which I first painted with a layer of gesso. Once this was dry, I gave it a coat of gold acrylic paint. Next up I slapped on a really thick layer of cheap PVA glue then quickly "laid" a layer of red acrylic on top of the glue. Now, this is the bit where the magic happens... I think the science behind it goes thus - The PVA takes longer to dry than the (red) acrylic on top and this causes that top layer of paint to split. The PVA then goes on to dry clear, revealing the under colour behind it making for a cool distressed effect. It's a great way of achieving this look without having to invest in expensive ready made branded distress paint and although I haven't tried it, I believe you can use this technique on bits of furniture too. I would imagine that would require a sealing with varnish once dried tho! So that's the technique for colouring up the covers front and back - next job is to decorate!

This is the creative bit! I die cut a doily in green glitter card stock, cut this in half and stuck either side of the cover. This left a space in the middle for a pic. I cut out a frame which will hold a family pic (once the event itself has happened!) but for now there's a cute little christmas kitty keeping that space cosy, lol! I tied a bow from organza ribbon and chunky twine for embellishing the top corner of the photo. I added a big glittered wooden sentiment (Christmas) which is from a Create Christmas pack of seasonal sentiments from DoCrafts. These are great because they are a really good size for making a main focal point on your project. I used some DoCrafts adhesive chipboard numbers from a set of alphas and numbers for adding in the year and die cut two leaping reindeer to decorate.

You can see all the mis-matched cards and different sizes of pages inside - I even have pages of acetate stamped with staz-on ink. The joy of these makes is no two are ever the same - love it!

Christmas wreath die from Xcut

Now here's a lovely filigree die! I must admit I struggled with the intricacy of this die initially, as I hadn't used anything so detailed before but then a colleague put me on to tumble dryer sheets!!! What a difference that made! Basically, for anyone who isn't already in the know all you do is rub your dryer sheet over and into the cutting parts of your die and off you go die cutting. The dryer sheet just makes your die cut release so easily from your die. Brilliant!

Here's the wreath die this time on an easel card. I've decorated this one with the cute little felt embellishments too. Yes, that's that herring bone folder this time I embossed kraft card and distressed it with gold glitter glue.

Lastly, for today, more peel-off fun with a large snowflake as the focal point which I coloured with a water colour brush and ink. The sentiment might look like a peel-off too but it's a diecut from the Xcut mini die range.

Ok, that's my cards all up to date but I have three more projects to upload which I will defo do this week. Please pop back again soon as I have two hanging plaques and a Christmas minibook to share here and hopefully inspire you to make your own versions. Feel free to leave any questions you might have regarding any of the makes you see on my blog.

Have a happy crafty Sunday!

Lots of goodies to Create Christmas

So without further ado, here are a few samples I made for my ladies...

These glittered wooden sentiment embellishments are beautiful and a great size for a main focal point on your card!

As I mentioned, I initially struggled with the lack of patterned papers to work with but then I decided to get a bit creative with some peel-off stickers and make my own. This one was fun to make up. I started with a few snowflake peel-offs which I stuck gently (so they would peel off again and I could reuse them!) to some plain white cardstock and lightly inked over them with a pale blue pigment inkpad. I removed the peel-offs to leave behind a pretty snowflake pattern - yay! This was trimmed and triple matted in black white and gold on to a plain white card blank. The main focal point is a wooden gold glittered sentiment. I wouldn't normally do gold and blue together - silver and blue is the natural choice for me but the glitter embellished words were all gold so that's how that choice came about, but I think they work together anyway. The stamped sentiment is from a pack of six christmas sentiment stamps - a really useful set they were too, you'll see more of these in use as we get through these cards!

Love this embossed background. DoCraft herring bone folder.

I love the simplicity of this one. The main focal point is a chunky chipboard Noel with reindeer sticker. This was just one from a whole sheet of printed chipboard stickers which work great if you are short of time or just don't want to spend hours making each individual card - lets face it you could miss christmas completely if you get too get carried away with making the vast amount of cards you may need... I kept the background plain but used an embossing folder for some texture - this one is the DoCrafts herring bone folder. I love this embossing folder as it goes with anything. Try it over patterned papers too - sometimes adding texture to a pattern knocks it back a bit, softening the contrast of the pattern and colours. In this case though it makes the focal point stand out by enhancing what would be a bland white background. The cracker that holds the stamped and heat embossed sentiment is made from some stripy washi tape stuck on to card and cut in the shape of a cracker.

Next up is another one with more peeled off peel-offs but this time I've water-coloured over the stickers before gently removing them.

That's a clear button tied with a twine bow detail on the largest snowflake and another heat embossed stamped sentiment, this time stamped in red pigment ink and clear embossed.

Still keeping it Clean and Simple - I'll call it CAS from now on as that's how it's known amongst you Cardies out there - this time with some kraft as my base. Now, could a card be made any simpler than this? It's a kraft card blank topped with some embossed kraft card, embellished with some stripy cardstock cut into a pennant shape topped again with a felt topper, stamped sentiment and twine bow. Yes, you could add a few sparkles here and there too if this is too plain for your liking but this is definitely the kind of card you could batch make and get done quickly. Going back to the felt topper - these come in a cute little wooden palette/box in 9 different designs including little gingerbread men and trees which you'll also see more of here!

I think this one should be called a "So Simple It's Ridiculous" card. It's a big stamped sentiment on a white card blank which has been inked round the edges with a blue pigment inkpad, stamped snowflakes embossed with white embossing powder, a few white sparkly gems thrown at it and a little red bow for contrast. Done!

Ok, crafty peeps! I'm going to go and edit some more of my Create Christmas makes and I'll be back shortly with another post full of sparkly Christmassy inspiration! Stay tuned!

Good Saturday morning crafty types!

Just a quick post this morning - I've a busy day ahead of me as this is my birthday weekend! Notice it's a weekend of celebrations, not just a day!!! Lucky me!!! So, just quickly, I wanted to share my latest scrapbook page here with you - images are a bit grainy as I swiped it from my an instagram post, sorry! Anyway, this one is all about layers and layers - I wanted a change from the plain backgrounds I've been doing lately and this kind of photo goes well with fussy embellishing and texture. The method I used goes like this -

Stamped a border round the dark pink card stock base,

A layer of distressed patterned paper, inked at the edges and where the paper has been torn - I've backed the torn pieces with patches of contrasting patterned paper.

The photo sits on a lattice die cut panel from my Silhouette Portrait which sits on a patterned paper matted on a contrasting colour of card stock.

There's a pleated paper frame this all sits on.

I've embellished with Hobbycraft paper flowers - gold Xcut die cut doillies, bows, buttons and some pieces from a Docraft Folk Floral Ultimate Paper Pack.

There's all sorts of stuff here from lots of different brands of craft supplies all mixed in together - a bit like dipping in to my box of leftover scraps but not quite so random and quirky...

I hope you like it!

This one is of Sadie when she was 4 years old - we were out beachcombing and I think she tried to bring half of Easthaven beach home with us!
The main background heart paper is from a paper pack from Tiger which I felt was a lovely contrast to show off the DoCrafts Geometric Neon papers. I love mixing up different styles of patterns. I think you have to make sure you keep an eye on the scales of the design though. This combo works because the main background paper is only two colours and a simple design. The Geometric Neon papers I used have a slightly larger design but the colours are quite muted apart from the flash of neon pink and orange but this compliments the red and pink hearts. If you have lots of older stash, I would recommend trying this out! Sometimes it works and sometimes it just doesn't - it's another creative way to use up your scraps too!

I cut the arrows out on my Silhouette Portrait and backed them with Geometric Neon scraps and embellished the page with alphas from the DoCrafts Geometric Neon Ultimate paper pack. The wooden embellishments were a recent-ish purchase from The Works - I really wish I'd bought more of these at the time as they have come in really handy!!

Thanks for stopping by! Keep crafting,
